Athletic Training Residency  Board Member & Director

Dr. Dorf is board-certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Virginia, Dr. Dorf completed his hand and upper extremity fellowship at Wake Forest University, Baptist Medical Center.  

In addition to being team physician for Summit High School and The Medical director for Team Summit, Dr. Dorf is also an active member of the US Ski & Snowboard Physician Pool, and enjoys the challenges associated with the care of high level athletes.

As a Fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Dorf is uniquely qualified to bring advanced knowledge into all areas of orthopaedics for the VSO Athletic Training Fellowship Program. Born and raised in Eagle County, Dr. Dorf was a cyclist, skier, and hockey player before becoming an orthopaedic surgeon. He still participates in all of these activites.  

Dr. Dorf has an active teaching style and loves having students in his clinic. Since joining VSO 10 years ago Dr. Dorf has had 3 students go on to become orthopaedic surgeons, 3 of his team members have gone on to careers as Physicians assistants, and he has mentored numerous students into fields as ATC’s and Physical therapists.
